We are sad to announce the homecoming of Jackie Ann Barker of Wesley Chapel, Florida on April 11, 2023. Jackie passed peacefully at home the age of 78 surrounded by family and her beloved husband. She was born in January 1945, an only child of Lela and Taft who preceded her in death. Jackie was survived by her children from her first marriage to Ron Cosper; Jon Cosper, Cynthia Mierop, and Jennifer Jones. Grandchildren Felicia Showers, Julian Showers, Mackenzie Mierop, Paul Sturiale Jr, Jasmine Mosko, Sophia and Christian Jones. Jackie is survived by a loving husband Jimmy Barker, his sister, Judy Worden. Brother-in-law, Richard Worden. Daughters, Michelle Taves and Jessica Atkinson. Son-in-law, Mike Taves. Grandsons, Bobby, Matt, Michael, Richard, and Riley Taves. Granddaughter, Hanna Taves, and finally, great-grandson, Ezra Taves. Jackie was an avid lifelong reader, who graduated from Stephen F Austin High School where she was a member of the Red Dragons. She attended Tarleton State College where she was a member of the choir. Jackie was an active and involved stay at home mother who dedicated her life to raising three kids and providing a safe, artistic, supportive and fun space for her children and their many friends, many whom considered Jackie a second mom. Jackie was the cool mom in the neighborhood that everyone loved, and respected. Her home was where many friends gathered. During her childrens formative years Jackie was frequently found in the nurses station volunteering, a co-Cub Leader for her sons Cub Scouts Pack, and active in her daughters Girl Scouts. She always supported her childrens many and diverse activities. Jackie painted backdrops for each play for every grade during her childrens elementary school years. Jackie also was an instrumental artist and designer during Operation Graduation, a post high school graduation lock-in and celebration for Newark High School senior class 1992 festivities, a themed event provided by donations and sponsorship from the community. Jackie was a gem enthusiast and jeweler, following in her Fathers footsteps who was a professional watchmaker, gemologist and goldsmith. She was a creative lady, a lifelong reader, who loved science fiction movies, gardening and canning, sewing, was a talented artist, and a fantastic cook of southern food and Tex-mex specialties. She painted many artworks in her lifetime using various mediums, many found in her childrens homes today. Her favorite medium was watercolor and oil. She was a Sunday school teacher in her younger years and continued to be active in church in her later years. She was a member of her current churchs Busy Bees; a group of senior ladies who help the church missionary activity. Jackie passed peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family and her husband. Jackie is fondly thought of, and is missed immensely. Im confident she is hugging her loving parents today watching over us all from heaven. Her homecoming service will be live-streamed, and can be attended in person at First Baptist Church of Wesley Chapel, Florida on May 13. Flowers are appreciated.
