Iva Dell MacLean Black, age 100, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Dell was born on December 21, 1920, in Prescott, Michigan, to loving parents Frank and Ila (Eastman) Holshoe. She graduated from Prescott High School in 1939 and married Donald E. MacLean in 1942. Dell taught grades K-8 as a public-school teacher for over 40 years in Prescott, West Branch, Saginaw, East Tawas, and Midland, Michigan. With a lifelong passion for education, Dell received a bachelors degree in education in 1961 from Central Michigan University. She then went on to receive a Master of Special Education.

She was married to Donald E. MacLean for 49 years. After his death in 1991, she married longtime family friend Melvin Black in 1995 and became stepmother to Donald, Nancy, Sue, and Linda. Dell was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Michigan Teachers Association and was an accomplished artist and musician, even playing piano for her family after her 99th birthday party. Her drawings in ink of places she knew as a child are exceptional.

She is survived by two sons, Donald R. MacLean and Douglas H. MacLean, a sister Noreen Quinge, twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Her son, Dale A. MacLean, predeceased Iva Dell in 2005 along with siblings Frank, Richard, and Agnes.

The family will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am at the Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11441 Hwy 301, Dade City. Memorial services begin at 11 am with burial at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 1 pm.
