Leonard was born on September 25, 1954, in Howey-In-The-Hills, to parents Junis and Viola (Harris) Ezell.

Leonard leaves behind his sister; Martha Ezell, brothers; Jeff (Wanda) Ezell, Tommy Ezell, and Johnnie Ezell.
