Irene Ortiz, 96, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019.

Irene was born to Paula and Modesto in 1923. She spent the first half of her life in Puerto Rico where she married her husband, Polo, and went on to have 7 children. She dedicated her life to raising her children and providing for them. Irene later moved to New York where her children started families of their own and she played a helping hand to raise her grandchildren. She loved her children, grand-children, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Irene is a devout catholic always putting her faith in God first. She was a loyal parishioner of all of her parishes that she attended. Irene spent countless hours in the kitchen cooking, she loved pruning her roses and caring for her orchids. Irene spent her last years in Tampa, FL enjoying her great grandchildren and continuing to strengthen her relationship with God. She will be missed dearly and was loved and adored by all who knew her.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 30 from 4-7 p.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Zephyrhills. A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday, October 31 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in New Tampa. Burial will follow in Oakside Cemetery in Zephyrhills.
