Obituary

Irene Saucier Lemay, 90, passed away on May 16, 2026, in Zephyrhills, Florida, following a long illness. Though her final months brought many challenges, she was surrounded by love and family throughout.

Born on April 16, 1936, in Salmon Falls, a village in present-day Rollinsford, New Hampshire, Irene was the daughter of Leo and Anna (Michaud) Saucier. She spent her early life in the New Hampshire communities of Somersworth and Dover, where she and her first husband, George Masse, raised their two sons, Raymond and David.

In the early 1960s, Irene and George owned Crockett & Hussey's Bakery in Dover, New Hampshire. Family and friends fondly remember George's baking skills and Irene's beautifully decorated cakes, especially the wedding cakes in which she took great pride.

Irene also worked for many years in local shoe factories, ultimately advancing to the position of Time Study Analyst. She later joined Pratt & Whitney, where both she and George completed their careers. In 1989, they fulfilled a lifelong dream by retiring to Zephyrhills, Florida. Sadly, only months after their move, George passed away.

A few years later, she found love again when she met Raymond A. Lemay Sr. They were married in 1996 and enjoyed nearly 25 years together until Raymond passed away in 2020.

Irene was also predeceased by her brothers, Edmond Saucier and Armand Saucier, and by her stepdaughter, Judy Lemay.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Susan Masse of Sanbornton, New Hampshire, and David and Michelle Masse of Rochester, New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Addison Masse, Kendall Masse, David Masse, and Taylor Masse; and her great-granddaughter, Breslyn Rose Masse. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Raymond Lemay Jr., Karen Sciuto, David Lemay, and Brian Lemay.

Irene was known to many as "The Sunshine Lady," and her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She was quick to share her love for singing during social activities at Tippecanoe Village, where she lived for most of her 37 years of retirement in Florida. Irene also volunteered for many years in the Tippecanoe HOA office until her declining vision caused by macular degeneration forced her to step away from duties that meant so much to her.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their love, kindness, and support.

A memorial luncheon will be held at Tippecanoe Village in Zephyrhills, Florida, on October 24, 2026. Additional details will be shared with family and friends as the date approaches.
