Obituary

Ines Maria Torres Rosas, 96, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in Zephyrhills, Florida, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. She was born on February 27, 1930, in San Germán, Puerto Rico, where her story began - one marked by courage, resilience, and an indomitable spirit.

Alone at 17 years old, Ines boarded the steamship vessel Marine Tiger and set sail for New York City, driven by the dream of a better life. That bravery would define her. In Brooklyn, she built that life with her own two hands - meeting and marrying the love of her life, Dean Emmanuelli, with whom she raised two children and co-owned both a successful Bodega and a Bar in the heart of Brooklyn. She was, in every sense, a woman ahead of her time.

Those who got to know Ines knew she was one of a kind - spunky, hilarious, fiercely brave while kind, and tough as nails. She loved to dance salsa and merengue and could light up any room she walked into. In her younger years she was known to run a little bookie on the side, a nod to the sharp, quick-witted woman she always was.In 1983, Ines returned to Puerto Rico, where she spent the rest of her years in the warm embrace of her island - tending to her grandchildren, surrounded by flowers, parakeet birds, and the color white she so adored. A banana split was never far behind.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean Emmanuelli, who passed on July 14, 2007. Ines is survived by her son Dominick Emmanuelli, her daughter Denise Rodriguez, son-in-law Ramon Rodriguez, and grandchildren who gave her, her greatest joy: Christina Simons, Jose Ramon Rodriguez Castillo, Ada Cristina Rodriguez Castillo, Dominique Emmanuelli, Dean Abraham Emmanuelli, Deborah Nicole Rodriguez-Gonzalez, and Jonathan Emmanuelli.

She was a woman who crossed an ocean at a tender age with nothing but hope - and gave her family everything.May she rest in the peace and beauty she so deserved.
