Helen Hammett Richardson was born March 11, 1918 in Cordele, Georgia to Mary Caldwell Hammett and Arago Powell Hammett. Helen passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 27, 2016 in Plantation, Florida. Helen moved as a small child to Saint Petersburg, Florida and then to Tampa, Florida where she grew up and graduated from Hillsborough High School. She married Edward Warren in 1934. They had two children India Warren Laurie of Plantation, Florida and Tim Warren of Sarasota, Florida, currently living in Mexico.
In 1947, Helen married Hazen B. Richardson and moved to Dade City, Florida. He predeceased her in 2012 after 65 years of marriage. After receiving her bachelors degree in library science, Helen was a devoted librarian who worked in elementary and high schools, and the public library in Dade City. After retirement Helen and Hazen Richardson enjoyed many years together in Dade City, Tampa, and Key Largo, Florida as well as Wolf Laurel, North Carolina.
Helen is survived by her loving daughter India (Bill) Laurie and their children Blair (Bill) Jenkins (great grandchildren Davis and Bryn), Leigh (Tom) Israel (great grandchildren Kevin and Alex), Leslie (Mike) Wood (great grandchildren Clark and Casey), Claire (Tom) Crusemire, and Doug (Natalia) Laurie (great grandchild Jackson) and her loving son Tim (Gretchen) Warren and their children Holly Crow (great grandchild Hunter), Hamilton (Greg) Sutton (great grandchildren Cooper and Ayla) and Hillary (Matt) Garner (great grandchildren Warren, India, and Caroline). Helen and Hazen in their last years had devoted and loving caretakers Ruth, Olga, Shirley K., Delia, Dawnette, Kameice, Ellen, and Anessia.
Helen and Hazen were devoted members of Saint Marys Episcopal Church in Dade City, Florida.
A visitation will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 14046 Fifth Street, Dade City, FL on Tuesday December 6th from 9am-11am. Graveside services will be held at Williams Cemetery at 12noon.
