Helen Marie Drews, 88, of Zephyrhills, went home to her Lord and Savior, Thursday, Feb. 13 losing a battle with ongoing health issues.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Hodges Funeral Home, 36327 SR 54, Zephyrhills from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The service celebrating her life will be Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens, Dade City.

Helen was a kind generous woman who was deeply loved, will be greatly missed and will always be cherished by the many people who call her family or friend. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend.

Her life began Dec. 4, 1931 in Marshall, Michigan as the daughter of Edward and Ella Jennings. She graduated from Marshall High School and shortly after, married the love of her life, Earl Drews. They remained married until Earls passing Nov. 15, 2003. The two loved going to car shows to show off their 1956 Studebaker.

The two were proud parents to four children, Nancy (married to Joe Bacon), Annette Wheatcraft, Ed Drews (married to Jeannie) and Chris Drews. Those children continued a family tree that gave Helen and Earl 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Helen also extended her family by adopting six cats, which watched over her until her final breath.

Helen worked in sales and service in the office supply industry for more than two decades. Helen and Earl became Florida Snowbirds in 1987 before becoming permanent Floridians in 1999.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ella Jennings, husband Earl, a son Carl Paul Drews, her sister Marion Sheehan and brother Norman Jennings.
