Hector Manuel Burgos passed away on August 25, 2023 at the age of 82, in Tampa, Florida. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Hector came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Hector was born on January 5, 1941 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. At the tender age of 8 he moved to New York with his family. At the age of 21 he met his wife, Maria Marrero Burgos. They were married on June 19, 1965. Together, they had one child, Hector, born on August 1, 1968. Hector and Maria were married for 58 years.

Hector lived a joyful and adventurous life. He loved fishing and the beach. Hector liked to be one with nature. This showed in his gardening. Hector was very creative; he loved to make things by hand. Another of his favorite pastimes was eating. He loved his Italian and Puertorican food.

In Hector's early years, he was very shy but as the years progressed he learned to be a people person. He was a friend to many. Hector loved to help others and was very compassionate. He always looked sharp in his dress suits. Always dressed to impress.

Hector was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona Burgos. Hector is survived by his wife, Maria Burgos, son, Hector Burgos, daughter-in-law, Theresa Burgos, grandchildren Hector and Alexandra Burgos, sisters Santi and Luisa, brother Eddie, nieces Nova, Cindy, Lizzy, and Brenda, nephews Jorluis and Eddie, and several great nieces and nephews.

Hector will be honored in a celebration of life on September 4, 2023. Viewing will take place from 10 a. m. - 12p.m., service to follow at 1.p.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Highway 54, Zephyrhills, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please donate to jw.org or your charity of choice.
