MyroJean Welch-Smith

July 16, 1933 – July 9, 2025

MyroJean Welch-Smith, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at Royal Oaks in Dade City, Florida.

Born on July 16, 1933, in Cottonwood, Alabama, MyroJean lived a full and loving life centered around family. She was a loving daughter, a devoted sister, and a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by Parents Curtis and Della Welch, husband Grover Smith, five brothers, one sister, two grandsons, and a stepson.

She is survived by her sister Nancy Welch-Pierce (Lousie); her three sons, Larry Whitehead (Marilyn), Duaine Whitehead (Drena), and Reggie Whitehead (Coletta); 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

MyroJean had a lasting and loving impact on her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared a deep and special bond. She had a warm heart and a nurturing spirit. She loved being a mother and grandmother, and she found joy in the simple pleasures of life: watching her favorite soap operas, coloring, doing word searches, and cooking meals for her family.

A visitation and memorial service will be held at Hodges Funeral Home in Zephyrhills, Florida, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Geiger Cemetery.

MyroJean will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her legacy of love and family will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
