PRATT, HAZEL ANGELL of Dade City, FL, age 89, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2014. Hazel became a long time resident of Dade City when she moved from the hills of Tennessee in 1956 to live closer to her beloved older sister, Laura Ellis. Hazel spent the majority of her working career in the food service industry, becoming an iconic figure at George & Gladys BBQ for over 36 years. Hazels love and patience taught many a youngster the value of friendly service and strong work ethic. Hazel was a true American Patriot who honored her brother Mick and brother-in-law Jack, both military veterans, for their service to our country by dedicating thousands and thousands of volunteer hours of her time at local Veterans Hospitals and veterans organizations. Volunteer work and service to her community was so important to Hazel that she continue to conduct weekly bingo sessions for the residents at Heritage Park Nursing Home until just a short time before her death. She was honored many, many times for her dedication and service.Hazel is survived by two daughters, Margaret Angell and Sandra Carter, and a son, Frederick Pratt, her favorite son-in-law, Glenn Carter, special adopted daughters, Brenda Tester and Nancy Rankin and her devoted dog Brandi. Hazel was affectionately known as Grand-ma-meow to all of her beloved grandpets each of whom thought they were her favorite. Hazel was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary at VFW Post 4283 Dade City, an avid bingo player, a faithful Chicago Cubs fan, and a passionate animal lover. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and was known as Momma Hazel to many. She will be missed by all who knew her.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 @ 2:00 pm at the VFW Hall, Major Francis E. Dade Post 4283, 12735 VFW Rd., Dade City, FL. with her sisters of the Ladies Auxiliary officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Ladies Auxiliary, Post 4283, Dade City, FL
