In Loving Memory Hanson Harris Jr Sunrise-May 26, 1940 Sunset- October 18, 2016

Hanson Harris Jr. was born on May 26, 1940 to the parents of the late Hanson Harris Sr and Bertha Mae Holley who preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death three brothers, Artis Lee Hicks, Jo Charles Morris, Samuel Harris, one sister, Algirtha Harmon.

Hanson went to High school in Brooklyn New York and graduated and then went to trade school where he learned electrician. He received his seaman papers at the age of 19 while working on the John Brown ship. He was then drafted into the United States Army at the age of 21 and was on active duty from September 1963 and received his honorable discharge in 1965. He then returned to the sea traveling the world over the next 40 years as a chief electrician working for the Department of United States Navy Merchant Seaman. He received many awards for his great service to his country. He was a master chess player.

He is survived by four daughters, Jacqueline Limehouse of Newark NJ, DJarris Fortune(Solemon)Charlotte NC, Jessica Harris, of North Carolina, Gwendolyn Barton, of North Carolina one son, Hanson Harris III, of New York, six grandchildrens and 2 great grandchildren. He is survived by six sisters, Annie Bell McCray of Georgia, Princess Stokes of Wildwood, Frances Hughes of Dade City, Loraine of Lakeland, Lillian Smith(Charlie) of Dade City, Clara Hicks of Dade City, 10 brothers, Danny Hicks of Texas, Leroy Harris of Twin Lakes, James Harris(Dorothy), Grandville Harris(Ethel) Harry Hicks(Emma) Eugene Hicks, Hercules Hicks(Bridgette), Lamar Hicks(Olliemae) Carlton Hicks, Charles McCray, all of Dade City, FL, and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, OCtober 29th, at 12:00, at Hodges Family Funeral Home's 5th street chapel in downtown Dade City.
