FRANKLIN Gregory Sloan 36 of Clermont, FL died Friday, Feb 10, 2017 in Clermont. Greg was born in Marietta, GA to Richard L. Franklin, Sr. and Betty Jane (Sloan) Franklin. He was a lifelong resident of the central Florida area. An incredibly gifted professional singer, songwriter, and musician, he made his first album at the age of 17 in Nashville. While his music touched countless lives, it was his joyful spirit and zest for life for which he will be most remembered. He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Reverend Gipson Perry "GP" & Sara Sloan and Paternal Grandparents Ernest & Mary Franklin. He is survived by his loving family Father Richard Franklin of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, Mother Jane (Sloan) Franklin of Clermont, FL, Brothers Richard L. Franklin, Jr. of Concord, NC, Christopher E. Franklin of New York, NY, Uncle Gipson Perry (Sandee) Sloan of Stuart, FL and Aunt Dale Ann Sloan Odom of Groveland, FL, Cousin Charles (Anna) Sloan of Stuart, FL, Nieces Serah Ashlee Franklin of Concord, NC, Brenna Grace Franklin of Colorado Springs, CO, and Nephew Miles Richard Franklin of Concord, NC. Visitation and services will be held at Tuscanooga Baptist Church (18609 Tuscanooga Road, Groveland, FL) where he was baptized and where his Great-Great Grandmother Mollie Sloan was a lifelong member. His family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, February 17th and Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 18th, at 11:00 am. Greg will be laid to rest next to his "Pa" at Empire Cemetery in Groveland.
