Glenn Shelley Rankin was born on November 22, 1922 in Marianna, Florida and passed away on January 31, 2012. She is survived by her six children, Kay Rankin Dyal (Jake), Carol Rankin, Allan Rankin, Nancy Rankin, David Rankin (Frances) and Robert Rankin (Leigh) as well as ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Glenn was married for more than 60 years to Colonel Allan P. Rankin (USAF) who predeceased her. Colonel Rankin was a fighter pilot and they met and were married during World War II. They were stationed in France, England, Colombia, Texas, New Mexico, Florida, Virginia and Missouri, but always returned to Tallahassee. Glenn was the master planner and director of moving the family from place to place, setting up households, organizing education and always providing a loving home for Allan and her children. After he retired, they moved to Dade City, where they lived until his death in 2002. Glenn was active wherever they were stationed with Family Services helping service families of all ranks with the issues that befell them. She was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. Service to her family and to others was more than just a phrase to Glenn as her many friends over the years can readily attest. She will be missed. Gifts in her memory can be sent to the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association, or a charity in need.
