Obituary

On Sunday March 14, 2021, Glenn E. Hall, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 84. Glenn was the only child of Edwin and Dorothea Hall, born in Patterson, New Jersey August 12, 1936. He spent his childhood years in New Jersey, graduating from Ramsey High School in 1953. He loved to tell stories of his time attending Emory & Henry College in Virginia. When it was time to leave Virginia, he made a big move to Brattleboro, Vermont to pursue a career in law enforcement. Glenn began his career as an officer with the Brattleboro Police Department before becoming a Trooper with the Vermont State Police in 1965. His time with the VT State Police began in Shaftsbury. In this wonderful, small town community, he settled on Sycamore Lane and raised his family. Glenn spent most of his career in southern Vermont in various assignments in uniform and as a detective at the Shaftsbury and Rockingham barracks. Glenn and his family moved north to Essex following his promotion to Captain of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Headquarters, a position he held until his retirement in 1990 after 25 years with VSP. Glenn was a brave and strong man with a big presence, something that came through clearly right up until his last days. He was a proud member of the VSP family and dedicated his life to serving his community and the state of Vermont. His love for his family has always come through clearly in faithful action, not empty words. Always interested, encouraging and challenging us to be our best. Since his retirement, Glenn and his wife Pamela have enjoyed winters in Zephyrhills, FL and many summers in southern Vermont on Lake St. Catherine. Glenn had a love of golf and he and Pam enjoyed spending time with family and the many life long friends they shared together. Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Pamela Hall, three children, daughter Karen Forbes and husband Joe of Westford, VT, son Glenn Hall Jr. and wife Amy of Alexandria, VA, son Mark Hall and wife Suzanne of Dunbarton, NH, three step children, Ronnie Chenard of Bennington, VT, Jeffrey Chenard of Peru, VT and Kellie Morrison and her husband Andrew of Tinmouth, VT, seven grandchildren, Ryan Forbes, David Forbes, Megan Forbes, Jacob Hall, Nicolas Hall, Bradford Hall and Jackson Hall. A memorial service will be held in Vermont at a date to be determined.
