Obituary

Gladys V. Lafreniere, 92, of Zephyrhills, Florida quietly passed away Monday, May 1, 2017. She was born May 4, 1924 in Graniteville, Vermont. She grew up in the Barre Vermont area, and was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Christie. She was the spouse of Gerard J. Lafreniere, who passed February 22, 2015. She is survived by her loving son Dennis, wife Judy of North Carolina and loving daughter Lana, husband Richard Smith, of Dade City, Florida. Surviving grandchildren are Michael, Michele, Mark, Darren and Deanna; eleven great grandchildren: Alexandria, Andi, Joe, Matthew, Parker, Kylee, Eva, Morgan, Aden, Ainsley, and Theo; and one great great grandchild, Nova.

Gladys moved from Barre Vermont with her husband Gerard, son Dennis and daughter Lana in 1956 to Florida, where she would live out her life. She married Gerard on September 7, 1941 at Joes Pond Vermont. Gladys was a graduate of Spaulding High School in Barre Vermont. Prior to leaving Vermont she worked at the Rock of Ages Capacitor plant in Barre and during WWII would work in Connecticut in a military equipment plant while her husband Gerard served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. Gladys also was a department manager in Florida retail outlets and ultimately managed large rental properties in the Clearwater Florida area prior to retiring. Gerard and Gladys retired in Zephyrhills Florida where they lived out their lives and enjoyed their friends, family and family gatherings.

Interment will be held on Friday May 12th, at 12:30pm,at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell Florida, alongside her husband Gerard Lafreniere.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11531 Hwy. 301, Dade City Florida.
