Pongnon, Ginette L., 77, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.
Ginette was born in Port au Prince Haiti to parents, Amelie Leon and her father who predeceased her before her birth. She is also predeceased in death by her mother, Amelie Leon; and her brother Gary Leon who also passed away in April.
After finishing school, Ginette became a teacher at Sacred Heart in Haiti for several years. Soon after, she embarked on her journey to the US in pursuit of better opportunities. Having settled in New York, in the late 60s, Ginette met her future husband (Roger) and they would have their only son Stephan.
She worked hard to provide for her family and made many sacrifices along the way. Ginette worked over 30 years at JC Penney Corporation as a Program Analyst before retiring.
Ginette was not only a loving mother but also a caring sister and loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was a cherished cousin and above all a loyal friend to many, but her proudest title was that of grandmother to her 2 granddaughters (Melissa and Stephanie). In her retirement here in Wesley Chapel, she leaves lasting memories with friends, neighbors, parish and extended surrogate grandchildren (Tyra and Donte).
Ginette is survived by her son, Stephan Pongnon (Lisa); sister, Michele Mainvielle (Joseph); granddaughters, Melissa and Stephanie Pongnon; nephews, Bernard Mainvielle (Jamie) and Michael Mainvielle (Cleonie); nieces, Rashel Barrf, Sandra Delencour, Pascale Leon, Carlyne Bernard; and special cousin, Gina Achille. She is also survived by 13 great nieces and nephews and her devoted caregiver, Beatrice Noel (Kervins).
Over the last year, Ginette and her dear friend Beatrice Noel shared a special bond. This bond is best represented in the daily care that Beatrice provided to Ginette during the difficult days of her illness. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family.
