He grew up in Lowell, with his siblings Billy Kennedy, Patricia Glen, Ralph Kennedy, Barbara Zimmerman, and Francis Kennedy. Jerry graduated from Lowell Trade School in carpentry and worked at Raytheon for 39 years as a carpenter.
Jerry married his first wife, Sophie R Kennedy (Tavano) at Sacred Heart church in Lowell, MA. They were happily married for 38 years. After her passing, he met his second wife, Carmella Rose Kennedy ( Sabatino) in 1996. They spent 18 wonderful years together until her passing in 2015.
Along with both wives, he is also predeceased by his sons: Paul A Kennedy (Patricia) and Gerald J Kennedy Jr, his siblings: Billy Kennedy, Patricia Glen and Barbara Zimmerman.
Jerry is survived by his children: Robert R Kennedy (Traci), Marcia K Blount (Edward),
and stepson Michael Montgomery (Molly)
He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and loved doing charity work for them. One year he built a float for one of their parades, a ship, called The Sante Maria. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, dancing, singing, playing cards, doing puzzles, and being the life of the party. As an avid golfer, he achieved 2 holes in one during his lifetime, which usually takes most golfers about 24 years before making just one ace. He was also very passionate about singing and loved karaoke, although he couldn't carry a tune, even after 12 singing lessons. Because of his Irish roots, he had always wanted to visit Ireland, which he did in 2018, showing off his Irish jig to all the locals. He also loved musicals, plays and the comedy club.
He will be fondly remembered for the many years playing the role of Santa Claus, flying in to all our Christmas parties with gifts for the children.
