IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald "Jerry" Anthony
Collins
July 29, 1962 – April 1, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Anthony Collins "Jerry" at the age of 60 years young. His sudden passing on April 1, 2023, at his home in Dade City, FL breaks our hearts but we know he is in a better place and was greeted by the heavens with love and open arms. Born on July 29, 1962, at a US Naval Hospital in Chelsea, MA to Jesse Collins and Sandra Haskew. He spent the majority of his childhood growing up in Seffner, FL among close family and friends.
He started and ended his long-time career in the traffic/electrical field working as a profound foreman with many successful projects completed during his time with various reputable companies. Jerry was incredibly gifted with the natural ability to fix anything. He was a jack of all trades, brilliant, creative, and daring. He was also a showoff, If you caught a fish 30 inches long, he would have a story about a fish he caught that was over 40 inches long in a storm that took 2 hours to reel in around a bed of rocks that nearly broke the line. He always made us laugh with his elaborate stories, that is what made him so great and lovable. All throughout his life he was an avid fisherman, hunter, jokester and one phenomenal cook. In addition to his hobbies, you could find him playing golf with his father or playing slot machines at the casino. His most recent passion involved cars, specifically Mustangs. If you were ever looking for Jerry all you had to do was go to his house and you would find him working on his cars.
His passion for life, witty sense of humor, and contagious laugh gifted us with many happy memories that we will cherish for eternity. Jerry is survived by his father Jesse and stepmother Bernice Collins; children Brandy and Joshua; grandchildren Tatum, Rylan, and Carson; sister Cyndi; nephew Tyler; niece Maggie and remembered by his mother Sandra. We find peace with Jerry being in heaven alongside his younger brother Mark A. Collins, who passed in 2017. We will forever miss him and know he is looking down upon us. In his honor, his daughter will be spreading his ashes among the waters in Key West, a family favorite reunion destination that provided many memorable moments. A celebration of life for Jerry will be held at a later date among friends and family.
