Obituary

George Alan Patterson, known as "Alan," passed away at the age of 62 in his family home in Dade City, Florida, on January 24, 2025, of natural causes.

Born on July 26, 1962, in Plant City, Florida, Alan was the son of the late Raymond Alvin "Pat" Patterson and Virginia Eleanor Turnage Patterson. He grew up in Dade City and attended Pasco Comprehensive High School before earning a vocational certificate in welding. A skilled tradesman, Alan dedicated his career to construction, specializing in drywall.

Alan had a deep love for life's simple pleasures—he enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, and searching for driftwood along the beach and creeks. He never turned down a plate of chicken, and while he was known for being stubborn and fiercely independent, he had a generous heart and would give anything he had to a friend in need.

He is survived by his son, Chris A. Watson of Kennebunkport, ME; daughters Kimberly Watson (Daniel Salazar) of Longwood, FL, and Margaret "Maggie" (David) Olander of Belfast, ME; and his beloved grandchildren: Christopher D. Watson; Isaac, Emberlyn and Sebastian Salazar; Dominic, Kayleb, and Amaya Olander. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Patterson and partner Chasity of Wytheville, VA; sisters, Trisha Simonds of Dade City, FL and Tina Patterson and partner Jorge of Zephyrhills, FL; several nieces and nephews, including Jill (Chris) Mink, Robert Patterson, Bobbie Sue (Chris) Patterson, Rachel Rizer, and Billie Jo Rizer; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bobby Patterson, and his niece Robin Patterson.

Though Alan believed in God, he wasn't one for church pews. His health declined rapidly over the past year, but true to his nature, he never complained. He lived life on his own terms, and those who knew him will remember him for his grit, generosity, sense of humor and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
