Obituary

George Finora, 91, of San Antonio, Florida, died peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2019.

George was born in Youngstown, Ohio and lived in San Antonio since 1985. He married Effie Mary McCabe (deceased) and they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Surviving are his daughter Karen Marie (Finora) Davis of Tampa, Florida, his son Paul Dominic Finora and wife Brenda of San Antonio, Florida, son George Douglas Finora and wife Robin of San Antonio, Florida, and his daughter Mary Lynn (Finora) Oakley of Ft. Myers, Florida, and husband Ronnie. George had seven grandchildren: John Patrick (Shianne) and Anderson Davis, Declan Finora, Jarrod and Clayton Finora, and Trey and Brooke Oakley.

George is also survived by his brother Daniel Finora of Coral Gables, Florida, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

George was preceded in death by his parents Dominick and Mary Finora, siblings Rose Vosch, Ann DeMarco, Eleanor Sebastian, Alfred Finora and his son-in-law Scott Eric Davis of Perdido Key, Florida.

After graduating from Scienceville High School, George enlisted in the Navy. He attended Youngstown State University and later moved to Coral Gables, Florida. He spent 28 years with The Associates Commercial Corporation and retired as Vice President of Florida Operations. After retiring he moved to San Antonio and founded Grandview Botanicals, Inc.

He was a devout Catholic, an avid fan of horse racing and the University of Miami Hurricanes. He loved to discuss politics and sports, especially with his friends in their morning coffee group.

The family will receive family and friends on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Dade City from 5:00 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 1:00p.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, San Antonio, Florida. Internment immediately following at Saint Anthony of Padua cemetery, Palm St. San Antonio, Florida.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul or Gulfside Hospice.
