George S. Bruyn Jr., 88, went home to be with his Lord on August 12, 2021 after a short illness. He is survived by his true love and wife of 61 years, Joyce Bruyn. He is also survived by his three children: Steve (Eddie) and Elizabeth Bruyn, David and Laura Bruyn, and Katrina (Kat) and Mary Bruyn; Sister: Rose, along with many loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, an endless number of friends over the years, and a loving sister-in-law Carol Rosier. He is predeceased by parents, George and Alida Bruyn; sister, Yonnie; brother, Neil; and daughter, Gloria Ann. George was a dedicated husband and father. He loved nothing more than his family. He was very proud of his military time in the Army as a M.P. serving during the Korean War. In his younger years, he was an avid baseball player and remained a fan. You could always hear him singing, he became a member of the American Legion Post 15 looking forward to the karaoke nights when possible. He also involved himself in the Pasco County Senior Center of Dade City, becoming Treasurer. As a strong man of faith he was a devout member of First Baptist Church of Dade City. Involved in their Prime Timers Program and of course the choir! George appreciated every day that was given to him and simply loved life! He is loved and will be deeply missed by many.
