George R. "Bob" Anderson 94, died peacefully at home Thursday, August 24, 2017 surrounded by family. Bob enjoyed many years of taking care of his garden and keeping his home and yard pristeen before moving to Florida to be near his family. He loved to fish, play golf, and do wood working after his retirement.He was one of the founding members of the Carpenters Union Local 171 and served on its board. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Corps as an oxygen technician for the pilots He was discharged in February 1946 as a Staff Sargeant. He was a member of Howland Community Church, a past officer of Masonic Lodge #529 of Cortland, OH, Northwoods Couples Golf League, Riverview Mens League, Molokai Mens League and his traveling golf league while in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen, and by his wife, Dorothy, whom he adored and was married to for 38 years, a son Robert Laughlin and daughter, Janet. Four brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death. He will be missed by his children, Kenneth Laughlin (Christine) Brooksville, FL formerly of Howland, Jane Mrus (John), San Antonio, FL formerly of Howland, OH, Pat Laughlin of Howland, OH, and Dan Bock (Dorothy) of Cortland, OH. He is also survived by his nephew William (Kathy) Anderson and Robert (Debbie) Anderson of Canfield, OH and many more loving nephews and nieces. He has 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his friend and neighbor William Schwandt. These two had many discussions about life and the Lord. A Celebration of Life will be held in Warren, Ohio officiated by his nephew, Myron Daum at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to Gulfside Hospice, 2061 Collier Parkway, Land O'Lakes, FL 34639, in his name, to your local food bank in his name, or planting a tree or spending it on a special family outing.
