Frederic R. "Red" Plank, age 85, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018. Red called Zephyrhills, FL home for over 25 years. He was born in Galeton, PA, but was raised in Coudersport, PA. Upon graduation of high school, Red began a career in the military. Serving in the Navy as a young man and later enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, he did two tours in Vietnam before retiring from Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA with his family in August, 1972. He eventually found his way to Florida where he was a business owner for many years prior to his civilian retirement. Red was a man who lived life to the fullest, enjoying adventure and laughter. He was a life-long Mason. He held active memberships in the Showmens Shrine Club, Gibsonton, FL; Egypt Shrine, Tampa, FL; VFW 8154, Zephyrhills, FL; Am Vets Post 550, Zephyrhills, FL; American Legion, Post 148, Riverview, FL; Master Mason, Eulalia Lodge #342, Coudersport, PA. He also served in various positions in many of these Posts, including being a Past Potentate with the Egypt Shrine in Tampa, FL in 2004.Many will remember Red when he was a co-owner of a company named B&R Mobility in Tampa, FL. He would do his best to work with and assist all he encountered. He was definitely a people person and never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten! Red was an avid motorcycle enthusiast! He especially loved Harley Davidsons. He would ride whenever he had the chance to do so! If he wasnt riding his bike, he was "tinkering" with it.Red loved his family with all of his heart. He is survived by wife, Marlene Plank, Zephyrhills, FL; Daughter, Laurie (Phil) Wood of McDonough, GA; Daughter, Tami (Larry) Singleton of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Daniel Plank of Zephyrhills, FL; Grandchildren, Alicia (Josh) Martin of Dallas, GA; Ashley Wood of McDonough, GA; Brandi (Kenneth) Waters of Dacula, GA; Keegan Plank of Ft. Meyers, FL; Ryleigh Plank of Ft. Meyers, FL and Rhiannon Plank of Ft. Meyers, FL; four great-grandchildren; and Stepchildren Cheryl Selle, Beverly Coop, Renee Ashworth and Tom Proulx. He was predeceased by his father, Forrest Rexford Plank; his mother, Thelma Mae Allen Plank; his brother Richard Plank; and daughter, Traci Ann Plank.There will be graveside service at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on September 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Following the interment, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering at the VFW Post 8154 in Zephyrhills, FL.
