Obituary

Frank L. "Swanee" Swanson, 96, of Bergen, NY and Dade City, FL, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, December 7, 2024, with his beloved wife, Connie, holding his hand.

He was born on Feb. 1, 1928, in N. Mankato, MN to Gladys and Frank Swanson. After graduating from Amherst (NY) High School near the end of WWII, he joined the United States Navy where he served on the USS Marsh, a Destroyer Escort stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI. His military life took him across the Pacific region, specifically Japan and China and instilled in him a love of travel. After his discharge Frank attended the University of Buffalo on the GI Bill, graduating with a business degree.

His first professional job was with Dunn and Bradstreet in Buffalo, NY. Calibrated Charts Corporation of Batavia, NY soon recruited Frank and, after a successful career, he retired as its Sales Manager in 1989.

In 1950 he married Jean C. Lauchert and together they raised four daughters. Jean passed in 1975 and not long after Frank found love again -- marrying Connie Poole, who survives. While living in Byron, NY, Frank was a long-time volunteer firefighter with the Byron Fire Dept. His membership in the First Presbyterian Church of Byron spanned some 60 years. He enjoyed outdoor sports (hunting, fishing, motorcycling) and loved to play golf in his later years. Frank was a consummate Bills fan. He was renowned as the world's greatest expert on everything.

As a couple, Frank and Connie were members of the Massasauga Search and Rescue Team. They traveled together across the United States, in Europe, and enjoyed numerous cruises. This year the family celebrates their 47th anniversary.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by Barbara (Dave Prevost) Weckworth of Leicester, NY; Susan (Dan Streeter) Swanson of Perry, NY; Karen (Don) Ash of Angelica, NY; and Nancy (Thomas) Lorelli of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and by Bill (Andrea) Poole of Lackawanna, NY and Carol (Dave) Haffly of Bergen, NY. He was grandfather to 14 and great grandfather to 14, and he loved them all. Two of Frank's brothers, Leonard and Gerald, predeceased him. His brother John (Carolyn) Swanson of E. Amherst NY survives. He will be missed and remembered by countless friends and neighbors in both FL and NY.

The family will announce details for a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Frank's memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Byron.
