Frances G. Raub, 78, of Zephyrhills and formerly of Niles, Oh passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 at Zephyr Haven Health and Rehab Center. She was born September 21, 1933 in Girard, OH to John Leo and Frances (Egan) Carey. She was a graduate of Girard High School and St. Elizabeths School of Nursing in Youngstown, Ohio. Fran was united in Marriage to Robert M. Raub on July 7, 1956. She worked as a registered Nurse, starting her career with Dr. Louis Zeller. She also worked at the Niles Clinic and many local nursing homes. Some of her memberships included St. Stephens Church in Niles, Niles Catholic Womens Club, Embroiders Guild of America, and Greater Zephyrhills M.I. Hummel Club. Fran enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, knitting, and hardanger embroidery. Her beautiful work earned her many blue ribbons at the Canfield Fair, Pasco County Fair, and Florida State Fair. She Volunteered for Meals on Wheels with her dear friend, Janet Glunt. She also volunteered for Birth Right. In 1989 Fran and Bob moved to Florida to manage St. Leo Abbey Golf Course. She established many great friendships during this time. Some of the best memories were of the good times shared at the Golf Course especially the annual St Patricks Day party. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; her cherished son, Michael; her parents; her sisters, Mary Rose, Dolores, Irene, Florence, Joan, Miriam and infant sister, Margaret; her brother, John. She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Denise), Leo and Maureen; sister, Kathleen OConnor; granddaughters, Jordane and Julia Raub. Fran leaves behind so many special friends including, Barbara Gilboy, Debra Rodway and Jean Cook. There will be a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 AM Thursday, December 29th at Holy Name Monastery in St. Leo with celebrants, Fathers David and Damien, OSB. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell Florida. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date in Niles, OH.
