Fawn Ella (Hixenbaugh) Weightman, affectionately known as "Mimi", 95, of Dade City, FL, surrounded by her children and their spouses, peacefully passed away at her home on August 7, 2022. Fawn was born on March 24, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Albert Hixenbaugh and Eva (Smith) Hixenbaugh. She graduated from High School in Donora, PA, class of 1945, where she was active in her high school band playing the trumpet. After her graduation from high school Fawn worked as a telephone operator and later became a licensed Beautician, an occupation she thoroughly enjoyed.
On January 3, 1951, Fawn married James Albert Weightman, Jr. in Donora, PA. James was serving in the U.S. Navy, requiring them to move to various duty stations during his twenty years of active duty. Some of their travels during his career took them to the Panama Canal Zone, Boston, MA, Bainbridge, MD, Norfolk, VA, and finally, to Dade City in 1959, where she had resided for sixty-three years.
Fawn had a love for gardening and traveling in the motorhome, as well as attending ship reunions with her husband Jim. She learned to roller skate as a child and was still enjoying this activity as an adult at eighty years young. Fawn had a wonderful sense of humor creating many memories of her funny antics.
Shortly after arriving in Dade City, Fawn found employment working for the Florida Welcome Wagon, a job that fit her outgoing personality and wonderful smile. During the 1960's she worked in sales at Tatum and Johnson in Dade City, and, eventually for the Pasco County Health Department for more than 20 years. Fawn also volunteered at the annual Pasco County Fair assisting with various duties to ensure visitors always had an enjoyable experience. Additionally, she was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Dade City.
Fawn is survived by her children, daughters Colleen (John) Scharber, Nancy (Bob) Hanley of San Antonio, sons Dennis (Patricia) Weightman of South Berwick, ME, and Jock (Laurel) Weightman of Dade City. Grandchildren are Tiffany Scharber, Christopher (Jessica) Hanley of San Antonio, Seth (Jessica) Weightman, Clayton (Natalie) Hanley of Dade City, Patrick Weightman of Austin, TX, Leah Weightman of Tampa, Sarah (Michael) Delaney of South Berwick, ME, Amy Marble of Eliot, ME, and Emily (Christofer) Land of South Berwick, ME. Great-grandchildren are Grace Marble and Sabrina Turner of Eliot, ME, Siobhan Delaney of South Berwick, ME, Miranda and Jackson Hanley of Dade City, and Jamie and Oliver Weightman of Dade City. Fawn is also survived by her Brother-in-Law Thomas E. (Jean Larkin) Weightman of Dade City.
Fawn was predeceased in death by her parents and husband James A. Weightman Jr., her brother Albert R. Hixenbaugh and his wife Lois, sister Fern G. Tegi and her husband Jay and Carol Ann Queen and her husband Tom. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 2:00pm - 3:00pm, with services beginning at 3:00pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home 11441 US Highway 301 Dade City, FL. Attendance by immediate family for interment at Florida National Cemetery Bushnell, FL will be conducted at a later date.
