Obituary

Eurie Jackson Rhoden, of San Antonio Florida, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. At the time of his passing, he was 85 years young and surrounded by family and loved ones in his home. Eurie was born in Lake Butler, Florida, on March 20th, 1938, to Andrew and Mertie Rhoden. He will be joining his parents and his siblings - John Henry, Bill, Gladys and Frances - in heaven, and dearly missed by his brother Eugene. In his early years, he played with rocks and sticks and rode his bicycle "all over the county" for fun. As a teenager, he quit school and went to work hauling pulp wood to help his family through tough times. Eurie married Patricia Annette Crawford and they had 3 children: Steve, Cindy and Carol. After their divorce Eurie was in a car accident where he nearly lost his left arm, forcing him to move to Pennsylvania for proper treatment. It was in Pennsylvania that he began the second half of his life when he met Phyllis Ellis... Who soon became Phyllis Rhoden. He returned to Florida with his new bride and two stepsons Ron and David Ellis, where he reunited with his own children creating quite the collection of kids. Over the years they have added grandchildren: Jason, Summer, Brittany, Rachel, Nick, Keith, Lauren, Matt, Brad, Josh and Chris, and great-grandchildren: Frankie, Arianna, Caesar, Kaylin, Tyler, Riley, Jacob, Audrina and Bradley. They even added a few great-granddogs with Cookie and Murph. Eurie took care of the greens out at Traveler's Rest Resort in Dade City Florida for almost 20 years before he retired. Retirement couldn't keep him off a mower though, as he and his grandson Matt maintained several lawns as a hobby for years. He made many friends and memories through his adventures. He manicured lawns. He fixed and painted. He collected tools and garages. He fixed up classic cars. He instilled values. He set standards. He raised the bar all the way to the top. But most importantly, he loved. He was Papa. He was Blue Papa. He will be missed by so many and remembered for generations to come.
