Eugene "Gene" Hockemeier, age 91, passed away on March 20, 2025, in Wesley Chapel, FL. Born on April 5, 1933, in Holbrook, Nebraska, Gene was the son of Fred and Marie Hockemeier and the brother of Martin, Jerry, Jack, Max, Paul, and Gerald Hockemeier.

Gene proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After his service, he went on to serve his community, working for the Bureau of Water Reclamation and later the Santa Clara Water District in California. There, he earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.

On August 27, 1978, Gene married the love of his life, Eileen Drury. Gene cherished his family deeply, and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was blessed with two stepchildren, Larry and Tommy Drury, and two beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Gunter and Alanna Drury.

Gene's hobbies brought him much enjoyment throughout his life. He was a regular at poker tables, enjoyed golfing, and loved to travel, especially on cruises. He was an avid bingo player and had a special fondness for slot machines. Whether Gene was lucky or unlucky that day, he was sure to keep playing. He also had a strong connection with his community, being an active member of the Elk's Club. Gene's easygoing, friendly nature made him beloved by all who knew him. He was always kind, giving, and well-liked, with a warm heart that endeared him to many.

Gene is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Marie Hockemeier, and brothers Jack, Max, and Paul.

Gene will be remembered for his generous spirit, his unwavering kindness, and his love for his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of joy and warmth that will continue to touch the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
