Obituary

Ernest Louis Trebour, 77, of Zephyrhills, passed away peacefully at his residence, Tuesday, January 12 ,2021. Ernest "Ernie" was born in Vineland, New Jersey to Ernest Louis and Anna Wendell Trebour on November 14, 1943. The family moved to Zephyrhills September 1950. Ernie attended Zephyrhills High School and later served his country in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam era. After returning to Zephyrhills, he worked as a masonry contractor and was a dedicated husband and father.

Ernie (ZHS Class of 1962), was married 39 years to Shirley Jeanne Trebour (predeceased in 2016). Together they raised three children, Cheryl (Dukes) Long, (ZHS Class of 1970) and Raymond Zeringue of Tampa, Laurie (Dukes) Mitchell and Marco Stanley of Gainesville, both (ZHS Class of 1972) and Martin Dukes, (ZHS Class of 1974) and Lola of Zephyrhills. He leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as sisters, Patricia Trebour Heath (ZHS Class of 1953) of Kathleen, Judy Trebour Sibley (ZHS Class of 1963) and husband, Roger Sibley (ZHS Class of 1958) of Zephyrhills, Mary Ann Trebour Ainsworth (ZHS Class of 1963) of Zephyrhills, brother, John Trebour (ZHS Class of 1956) and his wife, Sue Flynn Trebour (ZHS Class of 1963) of Zephyrhills, sister-in-law Dona Trebour, wife of Fred Trebour, Sr., deceased and brother-in-law, Jon Stephenson (ZHS Class of 1966).

Ernest is preceded in death by his brothers, David "Dave" Trebour, George Trebour, (ZHS Class of 1958), Fred Trebour, Sr. (ZHS Class of 1959) and brother, Robert "Bob" Garland and sister-in-law, Kay Garland.

In his day, Ernest enjoyed all outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved his family and his precious dog, Sweetie. Ernie was known as a great historian and his quick wit, hunting and fishing stories, countless jokes, fish fries, and famous pineapple tea ring.

A military funeral will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at which time he and his wife's ashes will be interred. Due to co-vid, the family will celebrate his life in a private gathering on Sunday, February 7, 2021.
