Elwood (Elly) L. Evans, 88 of Zephyrhills and formerly of Ohio, passed away 10/27/2013. He was born March 29, 1925 to Bert and Metta Dixon Evans in Parkman, OH. He was united in marriage to Marie Kathryn Gordon on August 24, 1947. He served in the United States Army (occupation of Japan) from 1945-1946. He was a custodian of schools in Mesopotamia and Farmington Oh and retired in 1984 from Grand Valley, Orwell, OH. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing with his father and 2 brothers. Family vacations were spent traveling to different states. He was an all county player in high school. He played softball with Johnnys Tavern in Geauga County League. He was a resident of Mesopotamia, OH for 61 years and 29 years as a snowbird going to Zephyrhills, FL where he resided permanently in 2008. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Zephyrhills. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Wilbert Ray Evans, Elton Eugene Evans and Bert Eugene Evans (at birth); sister, Lillian Maxine Evans. Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Marie Evans; 2 daughters, Sandra Lee Williams of Fowler, OH, Diana Lynn Zadunajsky (Daryl) of Bristolville, OH; 1 son, James Wilbert Evans of Zephyrhills, FL; 2 grandsons, Michael (Maggie) Williams and Jason Williams; 2 grand-daughters, Dodie Marie (Kelly) Edwards; Donna Michelle (Anthony) Malacina; 3 great grand-daughters, Tayla Malacina and twins Kyra and Krysa Dickson; sister, Lucille Beres of Bedford Hts, OH. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Services will take place in OH at a later date.
