Obituary

Ellsworth "Al" Cox, age 89, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, in his home in San Antonio, FL. Born on February 22, 1936, in Dubois, PA, he was the oldest son of Ellsworth C Cox and Margaret Snedden Cox. He had two younger brothers, Glenn and Dennis Cox. Mainly living and growing up in the industrial town of New Brighton, PA, across the river from Beaver Falls.

At an early age he joined the United States Air Force, where he earned his GED and retired honorably after 20 years of service. His specialty was in communications and those skills helped him get a job with Hillsborough County Emergency Management, where he worked for another 22 years. He retired early at age 62 and spent the last 27 years enjoying retired life.

In 1961 he married his beloved wife in Sanford, FL. They lived in the Tampa Bay Area for close to 50 years and just recently celebrated their 64th year anniversary. They had two children. Ellsworth also had two children from a prior marriage. He was a hard worker and spent many hours at various sports events and even coached some family members over years. He had a quick wit, and a dry and sometimes sarcastic sense of humor. The family enjoyed his stories from his childhood.
