IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ellen Elizabeth
Lowe
March 30, 1937 – January 4, 2021
Ellen Elizabeth Lowe (March 30, 1937-January 4, 2021)
Ellen Lowe, best known as Nana by her family and friends, made her way to her heavenly home on January 4, 2021.
Ellen was born Ellen Elizabeth Todd to Hilda and Floyd Todd on March 30, 1937, in Dallas City, Illinois. She was the oldest of ten children. Her parents and two sisters, Vera and Barbara, preceded Ellen to her final resting place.
Ellen is survived by her beloved husband James Scott Lowe and three children: Kathleen Myers of Land O Lakes, Florida, Donald Lowe of Rockford, Illinois, and Karen Akins of Poplar Grove, Illinois. Kathleen blessed Nana and Papa with four grandchildren followed by five great-grandchildren. Don added to the number with three grandchildren followed by two great-grandchildren. Karen gave them four grandchildren. She is also survived by her eight siblings; Beverly (Ron) Johnson of LaHarpe, Robert (Carolyn) Todd of Lomax, Ralph (Beth) Todd, James (Sarah) Todd of Terra Haute, Deborah (Larry) Detherage, Thomas (Dawn) Todd, Jane (James) Stronger of LaHarpe.
Ellen married Jim on February 25, 1956. Together, they raised their family in Rockford, Illinois. They spent their retirement years divided between their summer home in South Beloit, Illinois, and their winter home in Zephyrhills, Florida. Family was the most important part of her life and she was dearly loved by all.
Ellen worked for New Milford School in Rockford, Illinois, for twenty-five years as the administrative secretary. She was fondly remembered by former students and co-workers. Years after she retired, Ellen was frequently greeted excitedly around town with, "Hi Mrs. Lowe!" and a big hug. Ellen touched many lives and spread love and kindness to everyone she met. Many considered her an angel on earth and now she is an angel in heaven.
Ellen was well-read and continually enriched her spiritual life. Her absolute faith gave her the confidence to let go of this earthly life. Ellen called out to the Lord on January 4th, ending her final life chapter with, "Lord, take me home."
