Yager
September 25, 1934 – June 29, 2025
Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Alexander Yager of Dade City, Florida, widow of LeRoy "Corky" Thomas Yager, made her transition to heaven at 2:53 AM, June 29, 2025, from the Mike Conley Hospice House of Clermont, Florida after complications resulting from a series of strokes which began May, 25, 2025.
Elizabeth was born September 25, 1934 in Altha, Florida, one of nine children born to Nora Mae Spivey Alexander and James "Jim" William Alexander. She had a rich spiritual life that grew as she became older. She attended Saint Ann Catholic Church in Ridge Manor, Florida, and enjoyed praying every evening for the last five years by phone or in person with a group of close family members.
She wore many hats in her lifetime working for decades in the IT departments of various hospitals, starting in the old days when computers used punch cards. In more recent years she retired as an examiner for Florida Driver License, and then worked as a support person for several mentally handicapped individuals whom she loved. She had a loving, generous heart, and a brilliant mind, skipping two years in school and ending up graduating high school two years younger than her classmates. She was an avid reader and was given the nickname "Betty Book-a-day" when she was school age.
She is survived by two brothers and their families: George Alexander of Pensacola, Florida; Jerry and MaryJane Alexander of Sneads, Florida; brothers and sisters in-law on the Yager side and their families: Lorraine and Kathy Yager; Jeanne and Dennis Dobbins; Mike and Laurie Yager; Kenny and Jodi Yager, all from Illinois; and Shirley Yager of Dade City, Florida. Her direct descendants are her three offspring and their families: Joni and Arthur Thum of Clermont, Florida; Tina Mazzara of Land O'Lakes, Florida; Ray and Dana Yager of Irvine, California; eleven grandchildren and their spouses: David and Aundria Wainright; Jennifer and Adam Carrol; Harrison and Sarah Wallace; Jonathan and Natasha Wallace; Benjamin Wallace; Joseph Wallace; Christopher Wallace; David Wallace; Rhiannon Yager; Daniel Yager; Aidia Yager; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition she has many nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved.
