Eleanor Irene Lane, " Ellen" , age 76 , lifelong resident of Zephyrhills, Florida passed away on 07-17-2023 at home. Eleanor was born on January 20, 1947 in Abington, Virginia. She was the youngest of 9 children born to Ernest and Bonnie Lane. Ellen loved helping others, especially the elderly. She retired from Activity Director for the Alzheimer's Unit at Zephyr Haven Nursing Home. She was a huge Elvis Presley Fan and loved listening to his music during her entire life from childhood to adulthood. Although she never made it there, it was a lifelong dream of hers to visit Graceland one day. She also loved Gone with the Wind and would talk fondly about having walked to the theatre with her older sister when she was 11 to see it. Ellen loved to cook for her family and made the most treasured dishes at family gatherings where everyone looked forward to her cabbage rolls, vegetable soup, stuffed green peppers, biscuits and gravy and the infamous Mountain Dew cake just to name a few. She never followed a recipe all made with love from memory. Ellen is survived by her children; Andrew Thurston and wife Becky of North Carolina, Bonnie Smith and husband Phillip of Dade City, Florida, Timothy Thurston and wife Christine of South Carolina, Angela Jankowski of Michigan , Steven Thurston and wife Anjeana of North Carolina and Michael Burdin of Zephyrhills , Florida. Ellen has 13 grandchildren: Kimmie Vinton, Sandra Thurston and Andi Weber all of NC. Phillip, Brennen and Taylor Smith of Zephyrhills, Florida, Sarah Biss of NC and Timothy Thurston of Zephyrhills , Florida. Josh and Curtis Jankowski of Michigan, Kaitlyn Wilson of Michigan ; Amanda Cannon and Steve Thurston of North Carolina . Ellen is also survived by her very much loved great grandchildren named in familial order: Ellie and Brandon Vinton, Audrey , Brooke and Phillip Smith , Brennen Jr and Aaliyah Smith , Sterling Smith ; Jakob, Kaden, Ryan , and Jayce Biss ; Arya, Hazel, Athena and Theodore Thurston and brand new baby boy Dax Cannon . Ellen, the youngest of 9 children, is also survived by her two remaining living siblings, Woodrow Lane of Dade City and Billy Lane of Dade City . She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
