Eldon Raymond Mead, 89, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 following a brief illness. Eldon was born on October 30, 1935 in Berkshire, NY. He was the son of Raymond F. and Gladys (Cobler) Mead; husband to Judith Riek; brother of the late Onalee Wright and Rhonda Shaver. He attended Newark Valley schools and served in the U.S. Army attending mechanics school while serving. He worked at Cornell University as a mechanic prior to and after discharge from the Army until 1978 and was employed as a plumber in Florida after that. He retired in 2000 and enjoyed camping with Judith and they took several trips across the U.S. In addition, he enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. He made furniture and cabinets for many and several toys for his grandchildren. In his early years of marriage, he and Judy lived overseas in Germany where he was stationed while in the Army. Eldon and Judith resided in Zephyrhills, FL since 1978 and prior to that in Jenksville, NY.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Judith (Riek) Mead and his son Daniel Mead of Zephyrhills, FL and daughter Denise Honea of Cumming, GA, grandchildren William Honea and Cole Honea, also of Cumming, GA. And is survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will have a visitation on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Hodges Funeral Home on Hwy 54 in Zephyrhills, FL from 11a.m. - 12 p.m. Followed by a graveside service at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
