Eileen Barbara Swonger (Barrett) died of natural causes at her home in Dade City Florida on September 2, 2019, at the age of 87 surrounded by family and loved ones.

Eileen Swonger is survived by seven children; Howard (Lon) Swonger of Dade City, Florida; Patrick Swonger of Fruita, Colorado; Christine Wise of Dade City, Florida; John Swonger of San Antonio, Florida; Joseph Swonger of Largo, Florida; Steven Swonger of Dade City, Florida; and Ronald L. Swonger of Dade City, Florida. She has 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Eileen Swonger was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Howard L. Swonger in 2003.

Eileen Swonger was born on July 20, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland to Martin and Bertha Barrett. She married Howard Swonger in 1952. She was an active member of St. Ritas Catholic Church and a member of the choir for decades where she was well-known for her beautiful soprano voice. She was a volunteer for many local organizations including the Daystar Hope Center and other Pasco County charities. After raising a family, she earned an AA degree from Pasco-Hernando Community College in 1988.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Ritas Catholic Church in Dade City, Florida on Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in her name to St. Ritas Catholic Church, 14404 14th Street, Dade City, Florida 33523.
