DADE CITY, Fla. Edward Lee Long Jr., 73, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Dade City. He was born Dec. 26, 1938, in Salisbury. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lee Long and Louise Long Carey; and sisters, Thelma Adams, Lois Taglialavore and Betty Twilley. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Yvonne; daughters, Christiane Menning and her husband, Douglas, and Charlotte McDermitt and her husband, Kevin; and sons, Edward Lee Long III and his wife, Gail, and Steven Long and his wife, Anita; nine grandchildren, Kelly and Andrew Menning, Edward Lee Long IV and Elizabeth Long, Zachary and Nicholas Long and Matthew, Jessica and Colin McDermitt; two sisters, Winnie Corbett and her husband, Lee, of North East and Dorothy Purnell of Salisbury; a brother, Charles Long and his wife, Delores, of Westover; and many nieces and nephews.He retired from Crown, Cork & Seal in Fruitland in 2002 and was an avid golfer and fisherman.A prayer service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church on Riverside Drive in Salisbury.
