Obituary

KANE, Edward M 90 of Dade City, FL died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the James A Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa. He was born in Ossining, NY to Frederick and Mae (Reilly) Kane and was a WWII Army veteran. Edward served with the Merrills Marauders Mars task force in India and Burma and was awarded the Purple Heart for the combat wounded. He attended the McAllister School of Embalming and became a licensed funeral director. Before his retirement, he was co-owner Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining, NY. Ed was also a former member of the Independent Hose Company in Ossining, the Ossining Musicians Union, and was past president of the Westchester Funeral Director Association. He was an avid golfer and loved baseball, football, cooking and playing the drums. He is survived by his children, Gary (Ginger) Kane of Tampa, FL, Glenn (Donna) Kane of Garrison, NY, Maureen (William) Loos of Advance, NC, Darlene Matthews of St, Petersburg, FL, 6 Grandchildren, Kevin (Adrianna), Bryan (Gina), Jaclyn (Adam), Johnathan, Jeffery, Kelsi and 7 Great, Grandchildren, brother Fred (Hanora) and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed was a widower and was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Kristy. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28th, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be said at 10:00 am on Monday, June 29th at St. Rita Catholic Church in Dade City. Edward will be entombed in the Serenity Mausoleum at Chapel Hill Gardens, Dade City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, Haleys Cove fund control point #9138, 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. Tampa, FL 33612.
