Obituary

Dr. David P. Wilcher, 67, of Dade City, Florida passed away at his home on May 19,2021 surrounded by his close family and friends. He was born October 9, 1953 in Quantico, Virginia to David W. Wilcher and Phyllis J. Wilcher. He was a graduate of Wintersville High School, West Virginia University, and West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He received a full football and academic scholarship to WVU and played football under the direction of Bobby Bowden from 1972 to 1976. The highlight of his football career was when his team won The Peach Bowl in 1975. He served this community as a dedicated ER physician for over 40 years. He had a God given gift for healing and a heart for serving others and helped countless people in our community over the years. In his free time, there was nothing he loved more than spending time in The Keys and fishing with his wife, kids, and grandson. He loved being on the water but loved being with his family even more. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rita Boyd Wilcher; son Kevin; daughter Amanda; grandson Cameron; mother Phyllis (Powell) Wilcher; sister Debbie (Wilcher) Demboski and mother-in-law Betty Boyd. He is preceded in death by his father David W. Wilcher and father-in-law Donnie R Boyd. A service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church of Dade City, 37628 Church Avenue. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Moffitt Cancer Center or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Memorial Service
