With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of Dr. Pedro Julio Duarte, M.D. on March 12, 2024. Pedro known to many as "Pete" was born on February 14, 1938, in Manizales, Colombia. He was the third youngest of six children born to Dr. Pedro and Ana Duarte. As a young adult, Pedro engaged in outdoor sports such as soccer and cycling, and grew to love long-distance running. He was an avid chess player, with a passion for Archaeology, Ancient Civilizations, Physics, Mathematics, and Jazz. Pedro graduated Medical School from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogota, Colombia, in 1965. For 48 years, he spent his career in service to others as an Interventional Radiologist.

Pedro met his wife, Maria Teresa Duarte, in Bogota, Colombia, in 1966, and married in 1967. Together, they moved to this country and called it home. Pedros impact on community will be felt for years to come. His mission was to serve others with the highest degree of empathy, grace and kindness. His daughters, Marci and Carla, will be forever grateful for his guidance and consistent devotion as a father in this life.

Pedro is survived by his wife Maria Teresa Duarte and daughters Marci and Carla Duarte Ferro. The family respected his final wishes for cremation. An intimate gathering to honor his life will be held in private. He will be forever loved and truly missed.
