Douglas (Doug) Merle Weeks age 82, passed away Monday, March 13th, 2023 after a long battle with lung cancer, Hodgkin's lymphoma, and Agent Orange at James A. Haley V.A. Hospital in Tampa. Doug was born in Canastota New York. He was the son of the late Merlin Weeks and Elizabeth (Hopper) Weeks. He was preceded in death by his brothers; David Lee and Dennis Lee Weeks. Doug is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart Lora Jones Weeks. He is also survived by his daughters Monica (Randy) Van Auken and Lorena (Bruce) Gardner, and three grandsons; Zachary (Alexa) Patrick (Nicole), and Trevor (Ashley). Doug was a 1959 graduate of Chittenango Central Schools, he enlisted in US Navy in 1959 and served until 1965. He then enlisted in the US Naval Reserves as an Equipment Operator, Chief Petty Officer. Doug retired from the NYS Thruway Authority in 1995 after 31 years. Doug was an avid golfer and charter member of Arrowhead Golf Course, East Syracuse NY. A private graveside service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 9 am at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell FL. Arrangements are under the care of Hodges Family Funeral Home 301 Chapel, Dade City, FL.
