Obituary

Our community sadly lost a pillar on the evening of June 4, 2026, when Mrs. Dorothy Squires Ison passed away peacefully of natural causes.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 2, 1944, to Anna Lee Davis and James A. Squires, Dorothy lived an honorable life as a mother, daughter, sister, wife, and friend. She married her high school sweetheart, Foster D. Ison (Sonny), in the summer of 1963. Professionally, she served as a Realtor Specialist for the United States Post Office Headquarters and shared her expertise as a tax preparer. Known for her courage and determination, she eventually retired to Zephyrhills, Florida, where she enjoyed watching baseball and visiting the beach at sunset. She was truly a quiet force of nature with a gentle touch.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Foster; her son, David E. Ison; her granddaughter, Britney Warkow; and her sisters, Gladys Ward and Carol Chirdon.

She is survived by her daughters, Josie Warkow and Julie Miller (Jim Miller); her granddaughters, Kimberly Sparks (Randy Sparks), Sammantha Fields, and Arielle Warkow; her grandson, John Ison; and her great-grandchildren, John McCollough Jr., Briana McCullough, Madalyne Santiago Warkow, Jamian McCollough, Nigel Holmes, and Tytan Warkow Williams.

Her soul will forever dance upon the stars. While our bodies are temporary, our souls live on forever.
