Obituary for Sparkie (Dorothy) Benz Wells Holte

An Army brat, Sparkie was born in the Philippines on May 22, 1928. She went home December 21, 2019. She graduated from the Florida State College for Women, where her sorority gave her the nickname Sparkie, because she was so outgoing she "sparkles "! The name was so appropriate that most people never even knew her given name! After graduation, she moved to Orlando, where she raised her family and was very active in Pine Castle United Methodist Church, the Orlando Women's club and the Country Club of Orlando. After her children were grown, she became real estate agent/broker with Holte Real Estate.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, Herb and Julia Benz, and sons, Michael and Lee Wells. She is survived by her brother, Ted Benz; daughters Nancy (John) Finnerty, Ruth (Terry) Smith; grandchildren Maxwell, Allen and Catharine Wells, Joy, Kristopher and Andrew Smith, Lillian and Jack Finnerty; and great grandchild Everett Finnerty-Boyett.

A celebration of life will be held at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in Dade City, Florida, Saturday, December 28 at 10:00 a.m.
