Obituary

Dorothy Wilson Hayes, age 79, beloved mother, granny, and great-granny, passed away on August 10th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family in Zephyrhills, Florida.

Dorothy was born on June 6, 1947, in Brooksville, Florida, to Grace and William Wilson Sr. She was the youngest and last surviving of 13 children, with nearly 40 years separating her from her oldest brother.

Her early years were spent in Brooksville until the age of 2, when her family moved to Spring Lake, Florida, where she lived until age 7. She then grew up in Dade City, Florida, until the age of 26, before making Zephyrhills her lifelong home.

Dorothy was a devoted mother to her three children: Gary Lee Killeen, Robert Allen Killeen, and Lorie Lynn Sink.

Since 1973, Dorothy shared more than 50 years of love and companionship with her devoted partner, David Hayes.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Gary Lee Killeen and Robert Allen Killeen; her grandson, Sean Killeen; her parents; and her 13 siblings.

She leaves behind her cherished partner, David Hayes, her devoted daughter and best friend, Lorie Lynn Sink, and son-in-law, Vincent Sink; her beloved grandchildren, Ashlee, Christopher, Jessica, Kyle, Robbie, and John; and many treasured great-grandchildren.

Dorothy will be remembered for her incredible strength, her determination, and her stubborn streak. She never hesitated to speak her mind and share her opinions—whether you wanted to hear them or not—and those who loved her wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain. Her love for her family will live on forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Gulfside Hospice, Zephyrhills, FL.
