Obituary

November 11, 1940 – October 9, 2926

Dorothy Mary Grantham, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, will forever be remembered for her outspoken personality, unwavering work ethic, delicious home-cooked meals, and, above all, the unconditional love she had for her family.

Born on November 11, 1940, in her family home in St. Joseph, Florida, Dorothy was the daughter of John and Theresa Blommel. Throughout her life, she was known as a hardworking, devoted woman who never hesitated to do whatever was necessary for those she loved. Family was the center of Dorothy's world, and she expressed her love not only through words but through her actions, her steadfast support, and the countless ways she cared for those around her. Whether preparing a home-cooked meal, lending a helping hand, or simply being there when someone needed her, Dorothy had a way of making sure the people she loved knew just how much they meant to her.

Dorothy found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to her plants, and caring for her fish. Some of her most treasured moments, however, were spent cheering on her grandchildren from the sidelines. She was a familiar and enthusiastic presence at the baseball field, always ready to support them and celebrate their accomplishments. For Dorothy, it was never just about the game; it was about being present, making memories, and sharing in the lives of those she held closest to her heart.

Affectionately known as "Granny" not only to her family but to friends and countless others, Dorothy was truly one of a kind. She was never afraid to speak her mind, and those who knew her best could always count on her for an honest opinion, a quick-witted remark, or a good laugh. Her outspoken nature was part of her charm, and her unmistakable sense of humor made even ordinary moments memorable. Dorothy was unapologetically herself, a woman of strength, character, and a spirit that could never be mistaken for anyone else's. She had a way of leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met, and the stories, laughter, and memories she leaves behind will be cherished for generations.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Theresa Blommel; her brother, Clarence Blommel; and her sister, Agnes Banister.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her daughters, Maxine (Darryl) Green and Elaine Sharp; her brothers, John (Linda) Blommel and Edward (Libby) Blommel; and her sister-in-law, Cathy Blommel. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer) Hunter, Kayla (Jerry) Torres, Matthew Hunter, Cody (Addison) Green, and Brendan Sharp; her great-grandchildren, Geo and Livi Torres, Bradley and Navy Hunter, and Tilly Jo Green; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though Dorothy's presence will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the family she loved so fiercely, the laughter she brought into their lives, and the countless memories made around dinner tables, at ballfields, and during the everyday moments that meant so much to her. Those who knew and loved "Granny" will forever remember her strength, her humor, her honesty, and the unmistakable love that made her who she was.
