On Saturday, January 19, 2013, Doris Merle Schneider was reunited in heaven with her husband, David, and what a joyous reunion it must have been! Merle, as she was known to everyone, was born January 8, 1941, to John B. and Annie Mae Padgett, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. As a young child, the family moved to Zephyrhills, where she attended school and was a member of the Zephyrhills High School class of 1959. On November 19, 1960, mom married our dad, David Anthony Schneider, Sr., who was her true soul mate. From this union, three children were born: Cecilia, Sheri, and David, Jr. Sadly, their love affair was put on hold when our father passed away on March 18, 1983. While life went on, there was never a day that she didnt miss our dad and she looked forward to being together again when it was her time. Mom was blessed with her only grandchild, Derek Michael Coleman, on November 27, 1984. If ever there was a loved grandchild, it is Derek. As a young child, when he drew on a dining room wall with Crayons, rather than scold him, she treasured it as his artwork. She went to all his baseball and soccer games, school productions, or anything that he was involved in. Their relationship was close and it is one that she treasured. What a great day it was for her to watch Derek graduate from the University of Florida with a degree in mechanical engineering! But our mom wasnt just a wonderful grandmother; she was a wonderful mom. We always knew we were loved and that she was proud of us. We never had a doubt that we could come to her with any problem and she would help us solve it. While this is a very difficult time, we know that she would not want us to be sad for too long. She did not fear death because she knew she would see Jesus in Heaven and be together again for eternity with our dad and all her family who had gone before. Merle is survived by daughters Cecilia Kay Coleman, Watauga, Texas; Sheri Lynn Schneider, Tualatin, Oregon; son, David Anthony Schneider, Jr., Zephyrhills, Florida; her beloved grandson, Derek Michael Coleman, Savannah, Georgia; and her grandcats and granddog. She is also survived by her siblings, Alfred, Itheria, Lola, and Fletcher; many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. A viewing will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8 p.m. at the 54 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Zephyrhills, Florida, with graveside services to take place Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11 a.m., Oakside Cemetery in Zephyrhills. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in moms memory to your favorite charity.
