In Loving Memory of Donald F. "Don" Hickey
Donald F. Hickey, affectionately known as "Don," passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024, at his home in Dade City, FL, at the age of 81. Born on March 7, 1943, in Chickamauga, Georgia, he was the beloved son of Frank and Gertrude Hickey.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Ruth Hickey; his daughters, Gena Pfeiffer (preceded by Scott) and Lucinda King (Will); his grandchildren, Brent, Jordan, Makayla, Gabe, Lilly, Ben, and Hallea; and his great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Dawson.
For 24 years, Don proudly served as the Shop and Equipment Yard Manager and Chief Mechanic for the City of Dade City. He was a man of many talents, known for his love of the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting. Don's passion for storytelling, especially sharing his fishing adventures, brought joy and laughter to those around him. He also had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time in his garden, as well as tinkering and problem-solving in his shop. A faithful follower of the Lord, Don was dedicated to his church. He will be remembered for his love for his family and friends and strong work ethic.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Don on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at First Community Church of Dade City, located at 37420 Beauchamp Ave, Dade City, FL. The family will receive friends starting at 10:30 AM. A graveside service will follow at Dade City Cemetery.
