It is with sincere regret that we announce the untimely passing of the Ball Family Patriarch, Donald "Don" Ball a.k.a. "Donny," "DW," "Cannon Ball." On September 26, 2018, Don departed this world leaving behind his wife, Kim; oldest son, Tim (wife Teresa); youngest son, Tom; five grandchildren and sister, Pam.Don was born on January 04, 1943 in Knoxville, TN., but spent the majority of his life in Tampa, FL., where he graduated from Hillsborough High School. In 1962, Don joined the Army and attained the rank of an E6 Staff Sergeant (76th Spec. Ops. Unit Army Sec. Agency/Morse Code Interceptor). Don ended his military career in 1968 and received accommodations for Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Expert Badge W/Rifle Bar, and Expert Badge W/Carbine Bar. After the Military, Don spent 20 yrs. as a conductor with the CSX Railroad. He spent the remainder of his life being a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.A visitation is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Oct. 01st at Hodges Funeral Home (11441 US-301, Dade City, FL); followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. and a 1:00 p.m. procession to the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
