Dillard Keen 82, of Lutz, FL passed away suddenly Friday, April 1, 2016 at his home. He was born March 30, 1934 in Dwight, VA to Wallace David and Naomi Keen and was a longtime area resident. Dillard was a graduate of Whitewood High School, in Whitewood, VA and King University in Bristol TN. He taught, coached basketball, and drove a school bus at Whitewood High School in Whitewood VA from 1956-1974. Former players refer to him as the first Coach K. After moving to FL in 1974, he worked in real estate, was owner manager of Circle Court Apartments (Tampa) and was a school bus driver for the Pasco County School System. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian Keen, one sister Jean (Kenneth) Martin of Athens WV, many caring nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Wallace and Naomi Keen, brother, Hillard Keen, four sisters Maggie Stacy, Merlie Mullins, Merbie Mullins and infant Effie Keen. Funeral services will be held 2pm Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Dade City, FL. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens Serenity Mausoleum. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
